Sølvkælderen — Danish silver since 1905
An institution in the heart of old Copenhagen. Sølvkælderen is the largest boutique of its kind in Europe, dealing exclusively in silverware and silver plate, predominantly of Danish production. We very much hope to see you, in our little haven where polished silver gleams from every surface.

Birgit Vibeke Tofts Memorial Foundation
Sølvkælderen is owned by the Birgit Vibeke Tofts Memorial Foundation. For 58 years, “Miss Toft” was the soul of Sølvkælderen — from young employee to owner and creator of an institution. Today, her legacy lives on through the foundation, which each year awards grants to projects that promote interest in silver, art, and culture.

Sølvkælderen’s history
The story begins in 1905, when silverware manufacturer Aage Steffensen established Sølvkælderen on the corner of Højbro Plads and Læderstræde. Since then, the shop has had changing owners, gained 13 windows on Kompagnistræde, and developed into Europe’s largest specialist retailer in silver.
